Home of the Buckaroos!

Our mission is to provide a progressive learning environment for all students to achieve by the objectives and principles outlined in the St. Paul Brand.

Dear members of the St. Paul School Community,

During the past few weeks I have spent a considerable amount of time exploring a variety of options for filling the St. Paul High School Principal position that will open following the departure of Wes Owens this June.

It is my pleasure to announce that I will be appointing St. Paul’s own Tony Smith to take over the leadership of the middle/high school beginning July 1, 2015.

My decision to appoint Tony to this position has come following careful consideration, research and investigation.   A part of this process has included individual conversations with staff members at the middle/high school as well a conversation with the board at an open public meeting.

Tony is an outstanding candidate for this position. He has proven to be a dedicated, engaged and valuable member of the St. Paul educational team.  Tony’s experience as a teacher, coach and as athletic director will serve him well in his position as middle/high school principal. I have spoken with a number of individuals from other school communities that have worked with Mr. Smith and who highly recommend him for a position of this nature. Tony is well respected among his colleagues; his presence at many of St. Paul events has proven his willingness to participate at a high level in school and district activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Owens for his service to the district and to wish him success as he accepts the responsibility of Superintendent of the Sherman County school district.  I would also like to welcome Tony to his new role in St. Paul.

We will begin working immediately on a plan that will make this as seamless a transition for our students and community as possible.  I look forward to working with Tony and our outstanding middle/high school staff to continue the reputation of excellence in education and activities for the students who attend our schools.

Thank You

Joe Wehrli
