Dear Parents and members of the St. Paul Community,

School Improvement late start Wednesday’s Philosophy:

In order to achieve our district mission of “providing a progressive learning environment for all students to achieve by the objectives and principles outlined in the St. Paul Brand”, the School District staff must continuously improve and develop their capacity to serve our diverse students and their families. The late start Wednesday calendar during the 2014-2015 school year will provide necessary professional development time for staff to focus on specific district wide professional development goals including but not limited to:

As a district we understand that this is a change for all members of our community and we appreciate your support and willingness to help us to provide the best quality education for every student in the St. Paul School District. Bus routes and school start times will be one hour later than normal each Wednesday during the 2014-2015 school year.

At the middle high school this means that each Wednesday the school day will begin exactly 1 hour later (8:57 a.m.) than the normal 7:57 a.m. start.  All District transportation schedules will be following this late start schedule as well.

At the elementary on Wednesdays for the entire year the school day will begin exactly 1 hour later (9:05a.m.) with doors open at 8:45a.m.  All District transportation schedules affecting both buildings will be following this late start schedule on Wednesdays as well.

Please see the attached calendar so that you can plan your schedule to accommodate this change.

Sincerely and with appreciation,

Joseph M. Wehrli
