St. Paul Community Members 3.15.17

March 15, 2017

Dear St Paul Community members:

It is with a great deal of Buckaroo pride that I send this update to you just two weeks in advance of our spring break which runs March 27-31.

A lot of positive things are happening in our district, with the winter sports seasons completed, the Softball, Baseball and Track programs are up and running. The FFA, DECA and music programs all have activities that have just been completed or are scheduled for the coming weeks. We are very proud of all of our students, those that choose to participate in extra-curricular activities gain an added benefit through their involvement in athletics and other school programs. This spring over 90% of all St Paul middle high students are participating in outside the classroom or classroom extension activities.

Teachers and students are finalizing preparation for the annual state testing window which starts the first week of April for St Paul and a large percentage of our students will again this year participate in these assessments. Last year our middle/high school scored as one of the top 10 schools in the state in 8th grade math and 11th grade English Language Arts and we are planning for another strong performance from all of our students this year.

The bond construction project is nearing completion with respect to the auxiliary gym. Basketball backboards, the divider curtain and scoreboards have been installed and we are expecting the hardwood court flooring to be delivered in the next few days. Once the material has been acclimated it will be installed and the final finishes will be placed on the facility including the music room and exterior. During spring break Andy Medcalf construction will be installing the construction fence around the elementary and beginning some work on the flooring and interior of the building. Once school is back in session they will move outside and begin constructing part of the roof assembly to be installed over the summer. The seismic and interior renovations will begin again on the 5th of June.

I would like to thank our teachers, the school board and our parent groups for all the support that they provide to the students and our district. St Paul is a great place for our kids to grow and thrive.

Sincerely,

Joseph M. Wehrli
Superintendent
